研究方向

神经轴突退化变性坏死是急性神经损伤如脊髓损伤和脑创伤以及很多与衰老相关的慢性神经退行性疾病如老年痴呆症(AD)、帕金森氏症(PD)、亨廷顿氏症(HD)、多发性硬化症(MS)、肌萎缩性脊髓侧索硬化症(ALS)等疾病中的常见病变。此外,糖尿病、青光眼和化疗引起的神经毒性也会导致继发性的神经轴突的退化变性坏死。由于人类的中枢神经在受损或变性坏死后再生能力极其有限,如何保护受损或患病的神经,预防、延缓、阻止乃至逆转神经轴突退化变性坏死是生物医学领域的一个重大前沿课题。

方燕姗课题组致力于急性神经损伤和慢性退行性疾病中神经退化的细胞和分子机理的研究,运用全新的神经损伤活体动物模型结合分子遗传学、细胞生物学、生物化学、药物化学、超高分辨率荧光成像、新一代测序技术、现代蛋白质组学和代谢组学等技术研究调控神经退化和促进神经再生修复的分子机制,并以此作为基础开发用于疾病诊断治疗的生物标志物和新型药物。
